Lighting

Induction

Induction lighting has been around for atleast 100 years but has just recently become a more cost effective option for commercial and municiple markets. Induction is more energy efficient, has a longer lifespan and is more environmentally friendly than traditional lighting methods.

Advantages of Induction

  • Faster ROIs than LEDs with better light spread
  • More energy efficient
  • No maintenance cost
  • Longer life - rated at 100,000 hours due to the lack of electrodes
  • High power factor due to the low loss of high frequency electronic ballasts
  • Closer to natural light
  • Instant on capability
  • No flickering, strobing or noise
  • Low starting temperatures
  • Minimal color shifting
  • Less heat produced than with Incandescent, HID/HPS, Metal Halide and mercury vapor
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Many installations qualify for utility company rebates as well as Federal energy tax credits

  Uses
Shopping Centers, Theaters, Offices, Lobby Areas, Libraries, Malls, Shops, Retail Parking Garages, Warehouses, Parking Lots, Storage Facilities, Auto Dealerships, Conference Centers, Exhibition Halls, Marinas, Processing Facilities, Municipals

LED

LED or light-emitting diode is a semiconductive light source. LED's are used as indicator lamps in may devices as well as other types of lighting. LED's are small and offer many advantages including lower energy consumption and longer lifespan. LED's efficiency is not affected by shape or size like traditional fluorescent bulbs and emit more light per watt than incandescent bulbs.

Advantages of LED

  • Longer lifespan
  • Durable
  • Heat, cold and shock resistant
  • Size- LEDs can be very small (smaller than 2mm) and are easily populated onto printed circuit boards
  • On/Off time- LEDs light up very quickly, a typical red indicator LED will achieve full brightness in under a microsecond. LEDs used in communications devices can have even faster response times.
  • Cycling- LEDs are ideal for uses subject to frequent on-off cycling, unlike fluorescent lamps that fail faster when cycled often, or HID lamps that require a long time before restarting.
  • Dimming- LEDs can very easily be dimmed either by pulse-width modulation or lowering the forward current.
  • Slow Failure- LEDs mostly fail slowly by dimming over time, rather than the abrupt failure of incandescent bulbs.
